Song Lyrics
I am a writer and have self published a book (Altars of Living Stones) and have written a bunch of unpublished peoms. A little bit ago I had the idea to convert my poems to lyrics. I ventured out to see how I might do that. I started and after some effort I went to ChatGPT and asked it to help tidy it up. It tweaked the lyrics I already had. I then seeing that model tweaked more and then re-applied the same method to other poems. Most of the songs here are from poems. However, songs like “A Glimpse Inside” are actually from an experience I had that I converted to a song and “Two Nail Pierced Hands” is from two testimonies that happened to my family. I hope you enjoy these songs.
Should you find a song you wish to use I have the following requirements. God has told me my job is to “sow” and his job is the “harvest”. From this you are absolutely free to use any of these lyrics (the parts I wrote and have all rights too, the music and vocals are AI for showcasing the lyrics) for any purpose you have. I would love it if you would credit me but that is not required. If you have a need or desire then allow me to sow these into you and go forth and create whatever harvest God wants to do through you.
Below are the song titles and lyrics of all the songs I have currently written.
These are listed from best to worst according to me (although they are all good).
-
Verse 1 (intimate, reflective)
I walked in as songs filled the air
But my voice just wasn't there
So I took a seat and sank
Then breathed a simple prayer.
Pre-Chorus 1 (wonder begins)
Songbirds suddenly filled the air
A warm breeze that shouldn't be there
I opened up my eyes and found
A door I'd never seen before
[Instrumental Break]
Verse 2 (quiet awe)
Blinding light ... Yet no pain.
Simple walls … Filled with light.
No shadows … Could be found.
I'd never been here before...
Yet somehow …
I belonged.
Pre-Chorus 2 (gentle discovery)
Gently moving ... From room to room.
Curtains ... Dancing in the breeze.
A couch ... My mother's dream.
A chair ... My father loved.
Verse 3 (warm reunion)
The kitchen ... Was alive.
Breakfast ... Filled the air.
I turned ... My father smiled.
And then ... My mother gasped.
[Instrumental Break]
Pre-Chorus 3 (growing anticipation)
Tiny footsteps ...
echoed overhead...
Chasing ... one after the other.
I looked toward the stairs...
Holding my breath.
Verse 4 (speechless realization)
One little boy...
Then a little girl.
They took their places
By my dad.
They looked at me...
And I knew.
Dad ... Still smiling.
"I've got this."
[Instrumental Break]
Chorus (powerful, climatic, tender culmination)
Overwhelmed I asked God, "Why me?"
He answered me so tenderly,
"Child … You asked. And I wanted to.
I opened My door for a moment or two...
To carry you until ...
You finally come home."
[Instrumental Break]
Bridge (soft, emotional, whispered gratitude, deep)
Together with trembling hands ...
We prayed ...
We cried ...
We whispered ...
to the little child we’d never held ...
Her name
[Instrumental Break]
Outro (soft, peaceful assurance)
I'd never been there before...
Yet somehow...
I was home. -
Verse 1
Love is patient like the rainbow
Waiting through the stormy skies
Love is gentle like the morning dew
Breathing life where dry earth lies
Love is faithful like the gravity
Holding every star in place
Love is humble like the blades of grass
Still rising after weight
Verse 2
Love is quiet like the margay
Hidden softly in the trees
Love is peaceful like the mourning dove
Welcoming the morning breeze
Love is selfless like the guiding hand
Leading someone back to shore
Love is calming like the ocean tide
Whispering “fear no more”
Chorus
But God's love
God's love is greater
Higher than the mountains
Deeper than the sea
Tender as a mother's touch
Gently falling like the rain
Faithful as a father's heart
Holding me through joy and pain
Verse 3
Love is mercy choosing healing
After all the hurt and pain
Love is purity surrendering
So another life remains
Love is truth within the garden
Nothing hidden, nothing shamed
Love is wonder like a child at night
Whispering Jesus’s name
Chorus
But God's love
God's love is greater
Higher than the mountains
Deeper than the sea
Tender as a mother's touch
Gently falling like the rain
Faithful as a father's heart
Holding me through joy and pain
Bridge
Love bears all
Like the Savior on the cross
Love endures
Never counting us as lost
Love believes
When the world would walk away
Love still hopes
Calling broken hearts by name
Father, Spirit, risen Son
Perfect love has overcome
Now forever we will sing
Your love reigns above all things
Final Chorus
Your love
Your love is greater
Stronger than the darkness
Breaking every chain
Calling my weary soul
To finally be free
And all the love of Jesus
Is pouring over me
Outro
And all the love of Jesus
Is pouring over me
And all the love of Jesus
Is pouring over me -
VERSE 1
On a playground in the summer sun
I was climbing way too high
One more step and I'd be done
Then I slipped and started to cry
For a moment all I saw
Was the ground rushing up too fast
But mercy caught me in the fall
And held me safe at last
CHORUS
Two nail-pierced hands
Reached down for me
When I was falling farther
Than these eyes could see
Two nail-pierced hands
Never let me go
Carried me through the darkness
And gently brought me home
When I lose my way
When I don't understand
I find my hope again
In two nail-pierced hands
VERSE 2
I was young and full of wonder
Looking out a second-story view
Leaning farther than I should've
Trying to see what children do
For a moment time stood still
As I fell so helplessly
But love was closer than I knew
Reaching to rescue me
CHORUS
Two nail-pierced hands
Reached down for me
When I was falling farther
Than these eyes could see
Two nail-pierced hands
Never let me go
Carried me through the darkness
And gently brought me home
When I lose my way
When I don't understand
I find my hope again
In two nail-pierced hands
BRIDGE
The hands that bore the rugged cross
The hands that broke death's chains
The hands that paid redemption's cost
Still reach for us today
The hands that formed the stars above
The hands that calmed the sea
Are the same two hands of endless love
That reached so far for me
FINAL CHORUS
Two nail-pierced hands
Reached down for me
When I was falling farther
Than these eyes could see
Two nail-pierced hands
Never let me go
Carried me through the darkness
And gently brought me home
Through every fear and failure
Through every broken plan
I've been held together by
Two nail-pierced hands
When this world gives way
And before Him I stand
I'll see forever's answer
In two nail-pierced hands
Two nail-pierced hands...
Two nail-pierced hands... -
[Verse 1]
Faith builds arks
before a single drop of rain
Stands before an idol
though the whole world bows in vain
Prays when lions wait
and death is written in the law
Then I look inside and ask
do I have that at all
[Pre-Chorus]
I want a heart that keeps believing
When my eyes can’t see the end
Lord take these weak and trembling hands
And teach my soul to trust again
[Chorus]
That’s what faith looks like
Running where You call
Standing in the fire
While the world around me falls
That’s what faith looks like
Trusting through the night
Lord when my faith feels small
Help me chase that kind of life
[Verse 2]
Belief will speak the truth
though it costs a man his name
Walks toward the cross
beside the One who took our shame
Chooses chains and suffering
before denying Christ
Knowing walking with the Lord
is always worth the price
[Pre-Chorus]
I want a heart that keeps believing
When my eyes can’t see the end
Lord take these weak and trembling hands
And teach my soul to trust again
[Chorus]
That’s what faith looks like
Running where You call
Standing in the fire
While the world around me falls
That’s what faith looks like
Trusting through the night
Lord when my faith feels small
Help me chase that kind of life
[Bridge]
Love laid down His heavenly throne
to hang upon a cross
Saw every failure in my soul
and never called me lost
God looks deep upon my heart
Breaking every hidden wall
And He still calls me His son
Saying I was worth it all
[Final Chorus]
That’s what faith looks like
Giving everything
Following my Savior
No matter what tomorrow brings
That’s what faith looks like
Learning how to fight
And even when my faith feels small
I’ll keep chasing that kind of life
[Outro]
And when I fall
Your grace still calls
You never gave up on my life
So I will run
Until You’re done
Making my heart look more like Christ -
VERSE 1
I heard You in the morning
In the quiet of the dawn
Calling me to walk beside You
Before the day moved on
But the noise of life grew louder
And my plans became my song
Chasing things that would not matter
By the time the day was gone
PRE-CHORUS
Every promise that I made You
Slipped beneath the rushing tide
Yet through every mile of wandering
You were standing by my side
CHORUS
You were there all along
Through the right and through the wrong
While I built my little kingdom
You were building me strong
You were there all along
When my faith was barely holding on
I thought I was finding my way back
But You were there all along
VERSE 2
I thought I heard You calling
Through the clutter of my days
But deadlines, dreams, and distractions
Pulled my eyes away
Winning hollow victories
That faded with the night
Till I found myself exhausted
Searching for the light
PRE-CHORUS
And the silence that I feared
Became the place I finally saw
That Your mercy had been waiting
Behind every single door
CHORUS
You were there all along
Through the right and through the wrong
While I built my little kingdom
You were building me strong
You were there all along
When my faith was barely holding on
I thought I was finding my way back
But You were there all along
BRIDGE
Not once did You abandon
Not once did You let go
Even when I couldn't hear You
Your love was leading me home
Not once did You grow weary
Not once did You move on
The God I thought I'd lost
Was there all along
FINAL CHORUS
You were there all along
Through the valleys where I felt alone
Every road that led me nowhere
Led me back where You'd been all along
You were there all along
Calling me with patient love
I thought I was finding my way home
But You were carrying me all along
TAG
I thought I was finding my way home
But You were carrying me all along -
Verse 1
Pontius Pilate stood before You asking, "What is truth?"
The answer stood before him, not a what but living proof
Just a breath away from glory, yet he did not follow through
Lord, may I never be so blinded that I fail to follow You
Verse 2
One man hung beside the Savior, fingertips from mercy's hand
Salvation stood before him, yet he would not understand
Trading endless life and freedom for the pride on which he'd stand
Lord, may I never be so stubborn that I turn from Your command
Chorus
Jesus, keep my eyes upon You
Jesus, keep my heart awake
Let me never trade Your glory
For the idols that I make
When the voices of my doubt come
And my mind begins to sway
May I cling to You forever
Jesus, never let me stray
Verse 3
Jealous hearts conspired against You, seeking out the Light to still
Loving darkness more than heaven, choosing their own way and will
Blind to all the chains around them, blind to every greater ill
Lord, may I not trust my own heart more than Your perfect will
Verse 4
One woman knelt before You Weeping with her alabaster jar
Pouring out her treasured perfume Knowing fully who You are
Overcome with love and thankfulness She worshipped at Your feet
Lord, may my love and grateful worship Always remain so sweet
Chorus
Jesus, keep my eyes upon You
Jesus, keep my heart awake
Let me never trade Your glory
For the idols that I make
When the voices of my doubt come
And my mind begins to sway
May I cling to You forever
Jesus, never let me stray
Bridge
Not too blind to see You
Not too proud to bow
Not deceived by darkness
Jesus, help me now
You are all I've ever needed
You are worth it all
Let me walk beside You, Jesus
Never let me fall
Final Chorus
Jesus, keep my eyes upon You
Jesus, keep my heart awake
Let me never trade Your glory
For the idols that I make
When the voices of my doubt come
And my mind begins to sway
May I cling to You forever
Jesus, never let me stray
Tag
May I cling to You forever
Jesus, never let me stray -
[Verse 1]
Everything was bleak
The cold was in my bones
Darkness whispering
Telling me I’m alone
Fighting thoughts that said
I don’t belong
Wondering if leaving
would make them strong
Breaking deep inside where
I couldn’t stand the pain
Tears fell like rivers
In an endless rain
Every breath felt heavy in my chest
Searching for a bit of peace and rest
[Pre-Chorus]
Reaching out with nothing left to give
Hanging by a thread, just trying to live
[Chorus]
Then You walked in
And everything changed
The air felt different
I’ll never be the same
Light broke through
Where darkness reigned
You spoke my name
And everything changed
You drove the shadows far away
Breathed new life into my frame
From hopeless gray To holy flame
Jesus… everything changed
[Verse 2]
Everything was crushing
Weight I couldn't fight
Searching for one ember burning bright
Giving every ounce just to survive
Praying through the dark to stay alive
Fell down to my knees in the night
With nothing left but one last cry
And in the silence, something moved
Like heaven opened in the room
[Pre-Chorus]
Stillness fell but it wasn’t empty
Something holy was surrounding me
[Chorus]
Then You walked in
And everything changed
The air felt different
I’ll never be the same
Light broke through
Where darkness reigned
You spoke my name
And everything changed
You drove the shadows far away
Breathed new life into my frame
From hopeless gray
To holy flame
Jesus… everything changed
[Bridge]
Like a rushing wind
You filled this place
I felt Your love
I saw Your face
Peace like I've never known before
Came flooding through my broken door
You rewrote what was torn apart
Put Your rhythm in my heart
From winter's day
To spring in me
You awakened life in me
[Chorus]
Now I can see
Everything changed
Your presence shattered
Every voice but Yours
You called me out
I’m not the same
Forever changed
By Jesus’ name
You turned my mourning into praise
You lit a fire that won’t decay
From death to life
I’ve been remade
Jesus… everything changed
[Outro]
Everything changed…
When You came near -
Verse 1
Walking slowly through the darkness
Stripped of everything I knew
Tears were falling in the silence
Lord, I didn’t know what to do
Every prayer felt weak and empty
Every dream had come undone
Holding fragments of a shattered life
Certain I was no one
Pre-Chorus
Then Your light broke through the shadows
And I saw You standing there
Chorus
In the Master’s hands
My broken pieces
Became a masterpiece of grace
Every scar and every shattered part
Was covered in Your love embrace
You took the fragments
I thought were ruined
And made them beautiful to see
Jesus, in Your hands
My broken pieces
Became a holy mosaic of me
Verse 2
Flames of mercy in Your eyes
Yet tenderness beyond compare
I laid my pieces at Your feet
Ashamed that I was standing there
Barely whispering “I’m broken”
As my soul began to sink
But You smiled and said so softly
“This is not what you think”
Pre-Chorus 2
Piece by piece You formed a picture
More beautiful than before
Chorus
In the Master’s hands
My broken pieces
Became a masterpiece of grace
Every scar and every shattered part
Was covered in Your love embrace
You took the fragments
I thought were ruined
And made them beautiful to see
Jesus, in Your hands
My broken pieces
Became a holy mosaic of me
Bridge (soft → explosive build)
I thought I was defeated
I thought the story ended there
But You were building something deeper
Through every heartbreak and despair
Not punishment
Not abandonment
Not the ending I could see
You were making from the pieces
Something beautiful in me
Final Chorus (BIG)
In the Master’s hands
My broken pieces
Became a masterpiece of grace
Every scar and every shattered part
Now shines forever in this place
You took the fragments
I thought were ruined
And made them beautiful to see
Jesus, in Your hands
My broken pieces
Became Your masterpiece in me
Outro (quiet)
Nothing but beauty…
Nothing but beauty…
In the hands of Jesus -
Verse 1
Sunday morning, coffee in the lobby
Perfect smiles as I walked through the door
Lights came up and the music started playing
Voices filled the room from ceiling to floor
The message sounded faithful from the pulpit
Every word was solid, true, and clear
But when the final prayer was softly spoken
I slipped away like I was never there
And I've never felt so alone
In a room this crowded before
**Pre-Chorus 1**
I didn't need a whitewashed tomb
Or a candle with no flame
I didn't need religion wrapped up
In a Savior's name
I needed the heart of Jesus
I needed His love shining through
I needed the family of God
And I needed you
**Chorus**
I needed the church that Jesus built
I needed the family of God
More than a stage and a preacher's word
I needed arms open wide
I needed the body
I needed the Kingdom
I needed somebody to see
I needed the love of my Savior
Shining through His people to me
**Verse 2**
I wasn't looking for all the answers
I wasn't asking anyone to fix my pain
I just needed someone to walk beside me
And remind me I wasn't alone in the rain
'Cause life had left me bruised and weary
Questions hanging heavy on my soul
I came searching for the heart of Jesus
But I left feeling farther from home
And the darkness felt a little darker
As I walked back to my car
**Pre-Chorus 2**
I didn't need all the right words
Or another Sunday show
I needed arms that would carry me
When I couldn't bear the load
I needed the heart of Jesus
I needed His love shining through
I needed the family of God
And I needed you
**Chorus**
I needed the church that Jesus built
I needed the family of God
More than a stage and a preacher's word
I needed arms open wide
I needed the body
I needed the Kingdom
I needed somebody to see
I needed the love of my Savior
Shining through His people to me
**Bridge**
I needed to see Your heart
I needed to feel Your grace
I needed to know You loved me
When I could not find my place
I didn't need a spotlight
I didn't need a stage
I just needed one believer
To help me find my way
**Final Chorus**
I need the church that Jesus built
And I know I'm not alone
There are wounded hearts in every pew
Trying to bear their burdens on their own
I need the body
I need the Kingdom
I need a friend who sees
I need the love of my Savior
Shining through His people to me
I need the church that Jesus built
More than a stage or a melody
I need the family of God
And I need them to be my family
**Outro**
I need the family of God
To be my family again
I need the family of God
To be my family again -
Verse 1
In a deep pit I awakened
Wondering how I got this low
Searching every shattered memory
Through the pain and through the smoke
Every road I thought would save me
Only led me deeper in
And the weight of all my failures
Felt too strong for me to lift
Pre-Chorus
And I cried into the darkness
But only the darkness answered back
Till my strength was almost gone
Chorus
Then You came down to where I was
You met me in the pit
Put Your hand upon my shoulder
Said “Child, this isn’t it”
When I thought my life was over
When I could not see the end
You climbed down into my sorrow
And You called me friend
You said don’t be afraid
I know the way out
I know the way out
Verse 2
In a cold pit I kept fighting
Clawing at the walls alone
Three thousand doors slammed shut before me
Every hope I had was gone
I was drowning in the silence
Certain I had lost my worth
And the enemy kept whispering
“You’ll never rise from this earth”
Pre-Chorus
Then I fell down on my knees
With nothing left inside of me
Just one broken desperate prayer
Chorus
Then You came down to where I was
You met me in the pit
Put Your hand upon my shoulder
Said “Child, this isn’t it”
When I thought my life was over
When I could not see the end
You climbed down into my sorrow
And You called me friend
You said don’t be afraid
I know the way out
I know the way out
Bridge
I said
“Lord, if You’re here beside me
Then why are You down here too?”
And through the light and through the darkness
I heard the truth break through
YOU SAID
“I HAVE WALKED THROUGH DEATH AND GRIEF
I HAVE STOOD WHERE HOPE GIVES OUT
I ENTERED INTO YOUR BROKENNESS
SO I COULD LEAD YOU OUT”
“I AM THE WAY
THE TRUTH
THE LIFE”
“I AM THE WAY OUT”
Final Chorus
You came down to where I was
You met me in the pit
Put Your hand upon my shoulder
And lifted me from it
Now the night has lost its power
Now the stone has rolled away
Because the One who climbed down for me
Is leading me today
I will not be afraid
You are the way out
Jesus, You’re the way out -
VERSE 1
There’s a trembling in the distance
Like the thunder before the rain
Every heartbeat growing louder
Something’s calling out our name
Dust is moving on the horizon
Heaven’s fire is in the air
Every soul can feel the tension
Like the King Himself is there
PRE-CHORUS
Breathing heavy
Hands begin to shake
Sweat and silence
Right before we break
Then the skies open...
CHORUS
RISE!
Grip your shield and lift your eyes
RISE!
Feel the Holy Spirit flood inside
Before the battle starts
The enemy has lost tonight
Our King has gone before us
So rise!
VERSE 2
I was never born a warrior
Never thought that I was strong
But the King says I am chosen
So I’m standing here holding on
Every scar and every failure
Now become what forged this sword
And the path His Son has opened
Leads us straight into the war
PRE-CHORUS
Breathing heavy
Hands begin to shake
Sweat and silence
Right before we break
Then the skies open...
CHORUS
RISE!
Grip your shield and lift your eyes
RISE!
Feel the Holy Spirit flood inside
Before the battle starts
The enemy has lost tonight
Our King has gone before us
So rise!
BRIDGE
Now the darkness breaks apart
Now the armies flee
By the banner of the risen King
We walk in victory
Strike after strike
The enemy falls
Hell cannot stand
When Heaven calls
FINAL CHORUS
RISE!
Grip your shield and lift your eyes
RISE!
Feel the Holy Spirit flood inside
Before the battle starts
The enemy has lost tonight
Our King has gone before us
So rise!
OUTRO
I never knew
There was courage here inside of me
But my King already saw
What I could not see
So anywhere You call
I’ll follow faithfully
Because the One who believed in me
Is the reason I believe -
[Verse 1]
A lone knight dragged through frozen wastelands
Snow and ash beneath his feet
Pain like fire raced through his body
Every breath felt incomplete
Scars of battles still upon him
Dreams of glory buried deep
Winning never felt like triumph
When the cost was hard to keep
[Verse 2]
Then he saw the smoke before him
Blackened skies above the stone
What was meant to be a refuge
Now stood shattered, cold, alone
Inside walls where songs once echoed
Only silence filled the halls
Fighting back the weight of sorrow
He swore he would not let them fall
[Pre-Chorus]
But the night will not last forever
And the dawn is drawing near
Though your hands are weak and trembling
He still calls His soldiers here
[Chorus]
So rise, rise weary warrior
Heaven’s King is by your side
Fight on through the darkest midnight
Morning’s breaking with the light
Draw your sword though hope feels distant
Stand your ground though shadows roar
Victory is coming, brother
Hold the line a little more
[Verse 3]
Then a crashing sound behind him
Told him he was not alone
Through the pain he kept on moving
Swift between the shattered stone
Seeing now the enemy waiting
Steel reflected in the flame
Breathing one last prayer to heaven
He charged forward in God’s name
[Pre-Bridge]
Fighting through the darkest evil
Crashing sounds of sword and steel
Shadows tremble, walls are shaking
Faith becomes the warrior’s shield
Through the fire and through the fury
Drive the enemy to his heels
[Bridge]
Move swiftly now
The battle’s turning
The enemy’s fate is already sealed
The King rides near
His banner burning
No power of hell can stand in this field
Take heart, take breath
The dawn is breaking
These wounds won’t steal the purpose in your soul
Stand up again
Your King is calling
So charge into the fight and take your hold!
[Final Chorus]
Rise, rise mighty warrior
Heaven’s King is by your side
Fight on through the final midnight
Morning’s bursting with the light
Lift your sword and hear the heavens
Every chain of fear has torn
Victory is here before you
Battle on until the morn!
[Ending - Softening]
The night is fading...
The dawn is breaking...
Victory is nearing...
And the King is still calling...
